A Tribute to Filipino Literary Laureates

Koret Auditorium, San Francisco Public Library


Though FilBookFest already celebrates more than a hundred
authors with Filipino roots, the highlight of the book festival
trumpets 12 pioneers who immortalized the stories of our
people, whether they be in the Philippines or in the United States.

The honorees are:
  • novelists Carlos Bulosan, NVM Gonzalez, Bienvenido Santos, Nick Joaquin,
    F. Sionil Jose, Ceres Alabado
    and Linda Ty-Casper
  • playwright Alberto Florentino
  • poets Jose Garcia Villa and Al Robles
  • historians Fred and Dorothy Cordova
  • memoirist Evangeline Canonizado-Buell
A reception at the Latino Room of the San Francisco Public
Library will precede the program.

Former movie star/stage actress Lotis Key-Kabigting
will be the emcee.

Bring Out the Inner Writer in Your Children

Budding authors age 9 and above are invited to create their
own digital books at the Digital Storytelling workshop.


To be handled by Michael Gonzalez, a digital production expert,
the workshop will teach your children how to tell their stories
with sound, pictures and words that they can show and
share with others.  Participants are required to bring a laptop,
an iPad or an iPhone.

Felice Sta. Maria award-winning "The Governor-General’s Kitchen", will present a rich
collection of vignettes about the Philippines’
culinary traditions, from sourcing and
production to the consumption of different Filipino food. She will discuss the evolution of
food and food-ways throughout the different
periods of Philippine history.



Well-known artist, chef and food columnist
Claude Tayag (you saw him with Anthony Bourdain in No Reservations) 
Claude Tayag
, co-author "Kulinarya",
a compilation of the best recipes of popular
Filipino dishes, and author of "Food Tour",
his compilation of essays on his
culinary adventures, will talk
about Filipino regional cuisine and
home cooking.




PJ Quesada
of Ramar Foods International will be the emcee.
